Describe the educational and informational objective of the program and how it meets the definition of Core Programming
In this series, Strawberry Shortcake, a curious, self-confident leader, narrates stories of her and her friends' adventures in the richly-imagined world of Strawberry Land. Using her many positive qualities, Strawberry helps her friends, who share her values but not necessarily her ability to take a broader view, to see beyond their own self-interest. The themes of the stories are designed to have particular relevance for young viewers, focusing on such issues as friendship, fear, self-confidence, sportsmanship, trust and shyness. The pro-social messages flow naturally from the narrative, as the characters experience concrete (positive and negative) consequences of their actions. This program is specifically designed to further the educational and informational needs of children, has educating and informing children as a significant purpose, and otherwise meets the definition of Core Programming as specified in the Commission's rules.

Describe the educational and informational objective of the program and how it meets the definition of Core Programming
Mike and Will bring cooking to a young audience who can easily relate to, not just one, but two of their own. Being able to cook is a great way for kids to contribute to the family, as well as giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment. Just as important, is the ability to help make the family budget go farther by encouraging everyone to eat at home more often. Eating a meal together is also a great way for family members to spend time together on a regular basis. Kids should encourage their parents to join them at the dinner table, it should be a place to relax and enjoy the meal, as well as an opportunity to have a family conversation. Cooking is also a wonderful way to bring the family together, but when it is done by the kids, it gives parents a break from the kitchen. And finally, Kids Cooking for Kids wants to spread the word on child hunger. There are millions of children around the world who do not get enough to eat. Mike and Will show kids how they can help make sure no child goes hungry.
Kids Cooking for Kids uses the technique of near peer mentors i.e., children to teach other children. Each episode employs the hosts, Mike & Will to appeal directly to young people, as well as their parents. The adults in the show provide professional expertise, but the young hosts are the primary focus and draw of the program. Their youthful interaction make kids feel comfortable and allows the learning process to have a greater impact.

Edgemont is designed to entertain its core teen audience and also to inform and educate its viewers about issues that arise in school and at home. The storylines focus on social and emotional challenges faced by all secondary school students, from forming and maintaining family, friendship and romantic relationships, to ethical and moral choices. The objective of the series is to demonstrate models of behavior for teen viewers, allowing them to consider choices that they themselves may face, to witness the potential outcomes of these choices and gain positive tools that they can use to resolve issues and conflicts in a constructive way.
It is anticipated that, on viewing Edgemont, teen viewers will compare their own behaviors to those of the characters, and the series may provide a vehicle for them to openly express to peers, and potentially teachers and parents, their own ideas and concerns relating to the issues portrayed. Parental viewing may also provide parents an additional perspective on the developmental process and social and emotional pressures in the lives of their children. The series also touches on significant societal issues, which is intended.
