The show has been designed to meet needs of children and young adolescents with a unique curiosity about their world, with weekly headlines that present the news in a teen appropriate manner. Teen Kids News meets FCC requirements for "core children's programming" by producing each week educational features such as, "College and You" (tips for choosing and getting into college), and "Word," (vocabulary skills training), as well as informational features for teens, such as reports about healthy eating; driving tips for new drivers, and internet predators. The show has been designed to meet needs of children and young adolescents with a unique curiosity about their world, with weekly headlines that present the news in a teen appropriate manner. The Program stimulates the 13 - 16 year olds curiosity, develops their learning and cognitive, listening and thinking skills, and serves as an enhancement of their academic and educational experience. More than 5,000 schools are using TKN as part of their school curriculum and affiliate stations have already contacted school systems in that regard. The full scripts are available to provide easy access for teachers to use in their classrooms.

On Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th, the station preempted children's programming due to breaking news of hurricane Irene. WTKR ceased analog operations prior to this reporting period. Licensee's responses to this form therefore refer only to the stations main digital program stream. We realize that children need to know that there are many career opportunities available for them in the future, so our anchors and reporters make school appearances to discuss the options of a broadcast career. Our meteorologists also make guest appearances at elementary schools in the area to teach children about the weather and how to be prepared in case of severe weather. We plan to continue this in the upcoming quarter. As part of our station's awareness of the need to read to children, our anchors and reporters make guest appearances in various elementary schools around the area in order to read stories to our youth. In addition to going out into the community, we also invite children to tour our studios to see the inner workings of a TV station/newsroom. We feel this will give them ideas for career opportunities they might want to pursue in the future. We feel all of the above programs demonstrate our commitment to children and enhance the educational and informational value of broadcast and non-broadcast programming to children. After due review of internal station records and documentation provided to us by program suppliers, the licensee hereby certifies as follows: (i) the only programs specifically designed for children ages twelve and under that the station broadcast this quarter are disclosed in this report (including in this Question 17) and (ii) the licensee fully complied with the FCC's commercial limits, as specified at 47 C.F.R. Section 73.670, with respect to these programs.
