WFSB aired 2,093 Public Service Announcements designed for children both locally and on the Network. These public service announcements are part of a general rotation and run in all dayparts, WFSB conducted several tours, as well as anchor apperances to schools this quarter. A further description of the PSA's aired by the station and other non-broadcast efforts are contained in a report which is mainatined in the station's Chirldren's Television File, and is available for review by the Commission upon request. On September 1, "Kipper" and "Franklin" were preempted by CBS sports coverage of U.S. Open Tennis, and rescheduled to their respective fixed second homes. On September 15, 2001, WFSB preempted its children's programming in order to provide coverage of news related to the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. The programming could not be rescheduled.
