"Wild Moments" is an educational program addressed to adolescents. NFL "Under The Helmet" showcases the pro-social on and off the field activities of the NFL's leading players and coaches. Topics included: Boy Scout Program, Forever Wild Animals, Preserving the Environment (Nature Conservancy)(City of Tucson Recycle Program), kid crime prevention (Ad Council/McGruff)(Tucson Police Dept.), kindness to animals (Humane Society of Southern Arizona)(Foundation For Animals In Risk), Gang alternatives (NAB Anti-Youth Violence), the value of abstinence before marriage (Arizona Dept. of Health Services),and anti-substance abuse (DARE)(RADD-Rock Artists Against Doing Drugs). “Tucson Town Hall 2” August 26, 2001, 5-6PM Taped highlights of a special public forum held August 24, 2001, 6:45 p.m. in the Modern Languages Auditorium on the University of Arizona Campus. Produced by Tucson Media, including KMSB-TV. The focus was “involvement:” involvement of teachers, students and parents. In each area there was discussion on solutions to improve that involvement. Highlights of the Forum were broadcast on all Tucson television stations Sunday, August 26, 2001. "Stop Picking on Me: Building Youth Resilience" 9-10pm, Sept. 6, 2001. Produced by KMSB-TV, the program featured a panel discussion on the efforts to promote resiliency -- the ability to deal positively with life's challenges -- through the community's schools, families and community organizations. At the center of the discussion were the issues of bullying and name-calling and the impact they have on young people, schools and on the community. The program included first-person accounts from middle school students about what it's like to be picked on. The panel members talked about ways to create an environment that promotes healthy youth development that prevents violence and substance abuse. Youth are at the center of this effort. b. Non-broadcast efforts enhancing the value of children’s programming: Dream, Reach & Succeed: This KMSB-TV sponsored on-going program offers prizes and other incentives to kids who do well in school.
