		1. KBTX-TV honors high school athletes with "Classroom Champions" a program recognizing students excelling in academics as well athletics. Classroom Champions are highlighted each Thursday (August through May) during the 6 PM news as well as 10 second spots running as "ROS" . All Classroom Champions and their parents are honored at a banquet each year during the month of May. 2. KBTX-TV Offers tours of the KBTX-TV studio facilities to students ages 5 years and up. The tour includes visiting the news and tv studios and allowes students to see themselves "on the air" as well as guiding them through the technical side of the TV business. 3. KBTX-TV provides a "speakers bureau" available to all types of educational facilities as well as church and civic organizations enabling our talent to reach out to a 5-county area. KBTX-TV employees participate in many educational events from career fairs to reading and singing in the classroom. 4. "Connecting with Kids" a vital link that brings together families, schools and communities airs on KBTX-TV. Each week KBTX-TV runs special reports on issues facing kids today. these reports run on Brazos Valley This Morning, Midday and the 5 PM news. 5. Because of the proximity of Bryan/College Station area to the Gulf of Mexico, hurrican tracking charts are made available free of charge ot Brazos Valley area schools enabling students to track storms during the hurricane season. 5. KBTX-TV is a sponsor of the 1/2 Price Books - 1/2 Pint Library Annual Book Drive. KBT-TV promoted the collection of children's books in both spanish and english language for a new Children's Library opened in the Barbara Bush Parent Center in College Station. This year's drive collected 6,000 books which are made available to young children of the Brazos Valley.
