This may include information on any other non-core educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. 1. WSLS considers education and school issues to be so important that it has an "Education Team" that is led by our Education Reporter, Dawn Pellas, for the coverage of all educational issues. To enhance this effort, WSLS-TV devotes a lot of time in its local newscasts to air educational reports.
2. WSLS-TV partners with Blue Ridge Public TV on a program called "Homework Helpline". Students can call a teacher that is "on call" to assist with homework after regular school hours.
3. WSLS-TV sponsored the following events and organizations that benefit children during 3rd quarter:
Salem Distance Run for the Lewis Gale Foundation
Light the Night Walk to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Junior Achievement Hall of Fame annual event
