WISH-TV is proud of its committment to are young people and continues to compliment its Children's Programming schedule with opportunities for area young people to grow and learn. WISH-TV hosts a number of station tours with area schools so that children and young adults can better understand not only the programs they see, but how those programs are produced and aired. Our Weather staff is vigilant about their outreach to area schools, and most recently, we partnered with the NCAA in hosting a live, one-hour commercial-free Town Hall Meeting focusing on sportsmanship for young people in the world of amateur sports. A number of teens were in our live, studio audience and were able to participate in the forum, which has proven to be not only educational, but a fun experience for young people and their parents and coaches. Through-out the quarter, we had a number of pre-emptions due to breaking news including the Space Shuttle Explosion on February first, when all Children's Programming was pre-empted due to CBS News Coverage. On February 16th, chidlren's programming from 9-10 a.m. was pre-empted due to extended coverage of a major snowstorm, and on March 22nd, from 9-10 a.m., CBS News coverage of the War In Iraq pre-empted Children's Programming from 9-10 a.m. In addition to the make-good episodes of Scope and Awesome Adventures broadcast on 3/16/03 and 3/30 due to Sports Pre-emptions, WISH-TV Boradcast additional runs of Jack Hanna within the second home on 11 dates.
