24 Hour News 8 aired an in-depth special on issues related to children and teenagers. In the weeks prior to the special, Maranda explored each topic in a daily series of stories generated from West Michigan teens and experts related to the topics. For the month of October, the issue of self-destructive behavior was explored. The special looked at behavior such as binge-drinking, cutting and other forms of self-inflicted harm.

24 Hour News 8 aired an in-depth special on issues related to children and teenagers. Salvation Army Angel Tree Campaign
December 2005
WOOD TV8 joined forces with the Salvation Army to collect over 40,000 toys for children that would be unable to receive gifts this holiday season. WOOD TV8 produced a campaign of promotional spots, public service announcements and on-line information highlighting the importance of giving during the holiday season.
