Their science teacher, with full knowledge of their parents and with a few special abilities of her own, becomes their mentor. Her tasks are to help them maneuver through the experiences of the high school years, with its social, emotional, educational, recreational, and teenage angst, and to guide them as they stand up for justice against the forces of evil. 		WGME 13's GIVING MAINE PROMISE campaign focuses primarily on giving children the assets they need to grow into productive adults. This on-going campaign provides resources to parents and families to help point children in the right direction. These resources take the form of PSAs, news stories, mentor matchup telethons and partnerships with various community groups. THURSDAY'S CHILD -Twice monthly, WGME News 13 shares the stories of Thursday's Child; children waiting to be adopted. Each child is profiled in a public service announcement that is televised in the weeks following the news story, helping children in need find loving homes. This report reflects the transition from analog to digital effective 2/17/2009.
