VEGGIETALES
is a show that draws upon characters from stories, which use both long
and short form material to provide social-emotional messages to
children. Narrated by animated veggies, Bob the Tomato and Larry the
Cucumber, the show teaches life lessons through wit and humor. Each
episode contains one or two short animated stories that illustrate core
values to children in an entertaining way. Stories are interrupted with
silly songs, usually sung by Larry the Cucumber, that contain whacky
lyrics in a catchy tune. Each episode ends with Bob and Larry
reinforcing the lesson learned through the stories.

Dogs is an animated show based on the books (Racer Dogs) by Bob Kolar.
The series follows a group of six dogs from Racerville who love to
compete with one another in races. In each story, one or more of the
dogs encounter and solve problems that teach them social-emotional
lessons on good sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, playing fair, and
friendship. The show also imparts information on the mechanics of
racing like directionality and the concepts of distance and time. The
social-emotional messages are embedded through the stories using action
and humor. The tags at the end of each episode reiterate and establish

MY
FRIEND RABBIT models constructive problem-solving for young children,
ages 4-8. In each episode, the story characters find themselves facing
a different dilemma that is drawn from a typical childhood experience.
Rabbit and Mouse usually lead us through creative problem-solving,
which involves tenacity and working in teams. The group may figure out
how to make the most of a bad situation, invent toys from everyday
objects, solve some of natures riddles, respect their differences,
or take care of others who need a little extra help. The characters
specialize in converting a challenge into a social activity filled with
optimism, creativity and humor. The series helps children learn to
think out of the box by showing viewers how the characters work
together to come up with possible solutions, and persist with new ideas
when one solution fails.

Degrassi:The
Next Generation continues the popular Degrassi series, and is preceded
by Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High, as well as The Kids of
Degrassi Street. Rather than do a show focusing on the (now adult)
characters, the creators decided to stay true to the original series
and retain its focus on the issues and challenges of real teen life,
bringing in a slew of new teen actors to star in the show. Several
characters from the earlier series reprise their roles on DTNG as
parents or teachers of the new students, and have plot lines of their
own which tend to intermix with the stories of the younger generation.

Liberty's Kids is designed to enable viewers to experience, in fresh and exciting ways, the
extraordinary period of 1773 to 1789 in American history, as the thirteen colonies, led by
a group of courageous and brilliant individuals fought for freedom from Britain and
established a new nation. It uses powerful storytelling to address three primary
educational goals:
1. To introduce young people to an extensive cast of remarkable historical figures,
from Ben Franklin to Phillis Wheatley, and to enable them to understand the
incredible sacrifices these individuals made to help found the United States.
2. To guide young people through the entire sequence of amazing events that led to
the creation of a new nation, from the homes of ordinary Americans and the
meeting halls from Virginia to Massachusetts to the numerous battlefields in the
colonies and the royal courts of France and England.
3. To help young people understand the importance of key philosophical, social and
political issues at the heart of the American Revolution by setting these issues in
actual historical contexts, by having individuals such as Jefferson and Paine
explain these issues and by seeing the impact of these issues on the lives of
ordinary citizens. And to always to do so in ways that are age-appropriate for our
target audience.

Madeline,
the clever, free-spirited little girl who seems always to rise to the
occasion when adversity arises, has been a much-loved model for little
girls since her introduction in 1939 (Ludwig Bemelmans, Madeline,
Viking Press). She is an ideal character to serve as a model for young
children. This program will be aired on a digital program stream only.
In the TV series (as in the original books), Madeline frequently
encounters the kinds of issues and problems that have always faced
young children everywhere, issues of good character and good behavior:
Shall I tell a lie? Have I hurt someones feelings? Am
I being just a bit too proud? too unruly?
too irresponsible? How should I treat others who are
different from me....? As our plucky little red-head confronts these
and similar questions, she struggles, she wonders and debates, and she
provides a powerful and engaging model of positive behavior and decent
character. She is no angel, but she ultimately does the right thing,
modeling positive values and good choices. It is precisely because
Madeline continues to strike a responsive chord among young viewers
that she is such a powerful advocate for positive values and behavior.
In Madeline they see themselves they confront the
same kinds of issues Madeline confronts; they struggle with right and
wrong just as Madeline does; and, hopefully, they will find their way
just as Madeline does. Madeline, the series, strives to highlight the
kinds of issues that young children face in ways and in a context that
young children relate to. It portrays negative behavior leading to
negative consequences and positive behavior leading to positive
consequences. And most important, it provides young viewers with a
model that they want to and can emulate.
