The series focuses on the dedicated people around the world who help sick, injured or abused animals. The program also instructs children on the proper care of all kinds of creatures in the animal kingdom. The show is aimed at children and families who want to learn about animal treatment, care and protection. On May 9, 2009, the station experienced technical difficulties that caused "Animal Rescue" to be preempted. WHNS aired "Missing", another educational and information program designed for children 13-16, in place of the preempted "Animal Rescue" episode.
