TVG - Parents need to know that this series spotlights young athletes who work hard at their chosen sport. The show is appropriate for all children but will definitely have the most appeal for those interested in sports. It's worth noting that while the show does feature positive role models for kids, it also mirrors some of the gender and racial differences and inequities that continue to exist in sports today. Families can talk about gender and racial inequities in sports. Why are men's sporting events televised more often than women's? Why do you think some sports have more players from a specific racial/ethnic group than others? Does that play into any stereotypes, either in the media or day-to-day life? How so? Families can also discuss the work and commitment it takes to achieve elite status in the sports world. What sacrifices do young athletes make in order to make college and national teams? Although the show focses on the players' athletic prowess -- and the awards and scholarships they've received because of their talents -- it also presents these young athletes as regular kids, many of whom spend their time volunteering, tutoring children with learning disabilities, and more.

Today the world is a very small place, and as a result, it is challenging for children to develop healthy attitudes of tolerance and acceptance in a time when it is increasingly important that we all learn to work together. GOGORIKI tackles this problem headâ?on with the creation of a magical yet modern world filled with diverse, nonâ?threatening, relatable characters delighting in the disparities in their individual personalities and unique perspectivesâ?â? gently addressing larger issues of tolerance. The characters draw strength from the various experiences and opinions they each bring to any situation, so that differences are embraced rather than rejected. How can we all work together to solve problems? We all share one planet, so how can we make the common goal of protecting it a unifying mission? In what ways can we celebrate and appreciate each otherâ??s differences and rejoice in our distinct experiences on an appropriate scale each and every day? Various people may approach issues from their unique perspective, so how do we recognize what is morally and ethically correct in a world where things are not always just black and white?

Come spend a 'day in the life' with the monsters at Wimzie's house and you'll never want to go home. It's the magical kind of daycare that leads to delightful adventures for the pre-school child. All of the characters are wild and wooly on the outside - but definitely human on the inside. After spending a half hour in this very special home away from home, no one will leave the world of Wimzie unchanged. It is the world where the real and the imaginary come together, where self esteem is the order of the day, where the emotions and the relationships of today's preschoolers, who are growing up to be ten in the year 2000, are on the top of the list of story material. Five year old Wimzie and her mother Graziella, an airline pilot, live in Yaya's house as does Rousso, Yaya's best friend - even if Yaya is at least one hundred years and fifty years old (and counting) and Russo is much more than a hundred years her younger. Graziella is more than ecstatic to have found a warm and comfortable home as well as a loving environment for her daughter, Wimzie, while she is off on her somewhat unorthodox work schedule flying around the world. It is within this setting that we meet Jonas, Archibald, Loulou, Horace, and Azuline as they work out the relationships that grow out of being together every day, of growing up just a little bit every day. They learn not only about themselves but also about the world outside the door: music, nature, art and fun are woven with a touch of humour throughout a storyline solidly crafted on socio-affective objectives. Music, songs, the art of discovery. Rhymes, magic, the sharing of secrets with friends. Storytime, word games, the acceptance of "your" way. This is what Wimzie brings into the viewers'

Describe the educational and informational objective of the program and how it meets the definition of Core Programming

Horseland and its unique approach of integrating the personality of the main characters and animals serve to reinforce prosocial themes. Horseland is also a "coming of age" series in which viewers experience and learn from the social interactions, hopes, dreams and even fears of this group of culturally diverse adolescents. From this background, the experiences of sharing, caring, compromise, friendship, respect and competition emerge to provide the young viewers with social and emotional guidelines for better understanding many of the life-lessons they need to learn as they grow and develop.
